James D. Webb

James Webb joined the University in 2004 and became the Chief Information Officer in 2007. In his role as the CIO, he provides leadership, direction, and vision for academic and administrative computing systems, application development, data center, desktop computing services, network services, and telecommunication services.

Webb was recently named one of Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2012.

Prior to becoming the CIO, Webb served as the University’s Director of Information Technology and Information Security Officer and spent fourteen years working in healthcare, non-profit, and corporate settings. Webb earned a B.B.A. in Computer Information Systems (CIS) along with a M.B.A. from West Texas A&M University and has completed CIO executive education programs at Stanford University, the University of Oxford, and the University of Texas.

Webb is also a part time instructor for Computer Information & Decision Management and teaches coursework on Network and Data Communications.

Mr. Webb holds active industry certification designations of Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert in Security (CCIE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).

He was the recipient of the University's staff excellence award in 2009 and the provost appreciation award in 2008.
