November 2016: Jalee Blackwell

“Jalee is an incredible student and leader with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is heavily involved and proactive in a number of student organizations including some from the College of Business. Specifically, Jalee serves as the president of our SHRM chapter, an officer for Enactus, and is a member of Rogers Lead WT. Jalee will doubtlessly be instrumental in the continued success for both of these organizations and is currently planning on seeking a J.D. after graduation.” — Drs. Berry and Chauhan

December/January 2016: Brett Ponder

“Brett Ponder, a Junior in Computer Information Systems, has been a technology leader in the department since his days at Bushland High School. Brett joined the Buffteks as a high school student for mentorship on a mobile application project and has blossomed ever since. He was president of the Tech Club in 2015-2016 and was recognized by the College of Business for the Lyles Innovative Technology award in 2016. Brett has a lucrative personal business writing mobile applications for clients as well as for the app stores directly. Brett earned a Kilgore Undergraduate Research Grant in 2015-2016 in order to apply mobile technology to improve fine motor skills of child patients suffering from chromosomal and neurological disorders. Brett remains an outstanding example of what can be achieved by Computer Information Systems students in the College of Business.” – Dr. Babb

February 2017: Niall Pratt

“Niall Pratt is an outstanding student both in and out of the classroom. Niall is always prepared and contributes significantly to the classroom learning environment. Niall is involved in College of Business activities. He has taken an active role in the Student-Managed Investment Fund. His insights into U.S. real estate were the impetus for many great classroom discussions. For the CFA Research Challenge, Niall conducted the valuation of U.S. Physical Therapy. His quantitative skills were instrumental in the calculation of the stock price, which involved linking the macroeconomic risk factors to the firm-specific issues. In addition to his outstanding business skills, Niall is a wonderful person. His easy going personality and sense of humor are delightful and will serve him well in his career” – Dr. Macy

March 2017: Olaniki Ajayi

“Carlos is not only a champion of multiple Media Minds projects, but he also holds office in Enactus. Carlos has really taken the lead and organized the Enactus Idea Challenge making it a large campus-wide event.
